the mall can be good

I have to admit it: I like to go to the mall. I especially like to go when the temperature is 105 and we don't have an air conditioner. With two babies, and a tummy like a beach ball, the air conditioning is a welcome relief!

Besides the stated above, their are other reasons. I never realized, until having children, how much fun the mall could be. Today, we went there for some serious girl bonding time with my mum and sis (Grammy and Auntie Kate to my kids). While there, we were able to participate in the joys of frozen treats, kids play area, and most special of all, the carousel.

Carousels are so whimsical and yesteryear, with there bright colors and happy music, they never cease to fascinate me. Even when I was dating Justin, we rode the carousel in San Francisco together.

As I sat between my two children, I was momentarily lost in the joy of their smiles of delight. This was Noey's first adventure on a musical horse, and she held tight with both her tiny hands. Ez couldn't help smiling all the way around. As we exited, Noelle started to cry, reaching out for her horse, wanting to go around again.

Sometimes our days are measured not in the amount that we accomplish, but in the pleasure of a few moments. Recognizing and enjoying those precious intervals of childhood is an art I hope to cultivate as time slips away.
